The client is seeking a talented mid-level UX Designer to join a user experience team focused on creating great experiences for authoring and publishing. The UX Designer will execute design work for the client, an innovative new authoring tool that is revolutionizing the client's approach to content, streamlining the publishing process, and addressing pain points in the author experience. This is a six-month contract position.
What the UX Designer will do:
Work with product, development, and other key stakeholders to design solutions that meet user and business needs.
Participate in an agile product squad with a tech lead and product manager.
Take part in an iterative, human-centered design process, including engaging in design discovery, generating early concepts, and producing finalized designs ready for development.
Collaborate with user research by creating prototypes for testing, listening compassionately to user feedback, and designing for user needs.
Collaborate with developers by discussing technical constraints, incorporating engineering feedback in designs, and reviewing ongoing development work.
Communicate and discuss the user experience throughout the design process using flow diagrams, mockups, prototypes, and strong communication skills.
What the UX Designer will bring to the role:
2-4 years of experience creating engaging designs for web applications and/or enterprise software.
Knowledge of interaction and visual design best practices and patterns.
A passion for building easy-to-use, delightful user experiences.
Willingness to advocate for the user throughout the product development process.
Readiness to iterate and refine designs based on new ideas, data, and information.
Capacity to deliver high-quality work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to participate in and learn from technical discussions about feasibility and scope.
Proficiency in using Sketch and InVision for designing and prototyping.
Initiative, an orientation towards collaboration, and excellent interpersonal skills.
A portfolio showcasing attention to human-centered design in web app projects.
B.A./M.A. or equivalent practical experience in Design, HCI, or a related field.
Experience with cross-functional collaboration in an agile environment.
Experience partnering with user research to gather data on user needs.
Experience using and contributing to a design system.
Strong writing skills.
Experience with web accessibility.
Interest in scientific and medical authoring and publishing.
