Network Administrator

Datum Software, Inc. Government Solutions (GS) is seeking a qualified Network Administrator candidate to function as a technical subject matter expert on USAF Air Operations Center (AOC) Network Administration for an information processing organization that provides field level support for AOC enterprise operations including:




  • Provide operational, training, mentoring, and technical assistance for installation, configuration, and maintenance of communications systems and networks supporting the AOC Weapon System.
  • Plan internal local network to include routers, switches, and hubs.
  • Monitor and control networks, available bandwidth, and hardware and software resources.
  • Activate circuits, execute end-to-end troubleshooting for circuit and network outages, and coordinate with any external entities (such as theater J6s, AOC sites and NOSCs) as required.
  • Maintain audiovisual processing and distribution equipment and infrastructure within the Ryan Center.
  • Analyze, manage and perform maintenance on Classified and Unclassified unit-controlled networks/network segments IAW all applicable DoD, USAF, and SPO policies.
  • Implement and enforce national, DoD, and Air Force security policies to protect networks from internal and external threats (including perimeter security system (PSS), boundary security system (BSS), and Information Server Environment (ISSE) guard as required). Work closely with other Network Administrators to ensure standardization among other AOCs.
  • Install, configure, upgrade security hardware, and perform security intrusion assessments, in coordination with cybersecurity professionals.
  • Monitor C2 system network capabilities and limitations. Configure network hardware and software to specifications.
  • Participate in Development Test and Evaluation (DT&E) and Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) of C2 network systems and new technologies when directed by the Government.
  • Assist with development and evaluation of training plans, and training related to AOC network administration.
  • Provide Ryan Center communication infrastructure support.
  • Provide on-site support to research and development efforts relating to the AOC Weapon System and/or C2 system integration, operation, and testing in support of trouble ticket resolution as well as test and exercise events. Support will be on an ad hoc basis and may require OCONUS/CONUS travel.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, when required by the Government, at meetings regarding network administration issues.
  • Provide trouble ticket management, coordination, and resolution as a member of a global AOC/C2 system help desk.
  • System/Equipment Supported. The Contractor shall be responsible for supporting the following equipment, in addition to any equipment added to the AOC baseline or included in variations:
    • Cisco 7K, 65XX, and 45XX series distribution switches, Cisco 3750, 3850 or newer access switches, Solarwinds Toolkit, NETAPP Fibre Channel, Cisco UCS and Flexpod architecture, Boundary Security System, Cisco 3900 series external and internal routers, McAfee Enterprise Firewall Appliance, ASIM Intrusion Detection System, VPN 3005 and Safenet Appliance Virtual Private Networks




  • A. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree in network administration positions. At least three (3) years of experience must be on Air Force owned/operated networks.
  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS, NX-OS, VMware Networking, and NetApp FC storage networking.
  • At contract start, contractor shall possess certification(s) in accordance with DoD Manual 8570.01-M (or its replacement), commensurate to IAT LVL II as well as at least one Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP, or Cisco CCIE certification.
  • Completion of the Air Operations Center Initial Qualification Network Administrator course (AOCIQTNET), when provided by the Government.
  • Experience supporting AOC operations within classified environments to include SIPRNet and JWICS.





  • CLEARANCE LEVEL: Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance prior to beginning work. It is highly preferred if a candidate already has a Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility, but we are able to process the clearance upgrade once the successful candidate has begun working in the role.
  • Contractor must be able and willing to work on-site at Langley AFB.
  • Equipment and Machines: Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.), and/or other industry-specific equipment.
  • Attendance: Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule and Performance Work Statement (PWS) contract is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements, when required.
